Teaching
A love for teaching has always been an important aspect of my desire to pursue an academic career. A core focus in my pedagogy is helping students develop what C. Wright Mills calls a ‘Sociological Imagination’-a disciplined ability to reflect on the larger social milieu by drawing connections to their own personal experiences/challenges. Therefore, I enjoy experimenting with how the graduate classroom remains a student-centric space.
I offer papers on Sociology of Education, Social Stratification, Sociology of Science and Technology, and Policy Studies at the undergraduate and graduate levels. At Indraprastha College for Women (IPCW), University of Delhi, I had the opportunity to offer the paper on Sociology of Education as a General Elective paper for students from non Sociology backgrounds in 2019. It was the first time that this paper was offered at any of the colleges of the University of Delhi under the CBCS Curriculum.
I was also part of the Revision of the undergraduate curriculum of BA Sociology (Honours), University of Delhi (2019), as Convenor of the Committee for the paper on Sociology of Education and Member of the Committee for the paper Sociological Thinkers.
